Hello everyone! Instead of having our first day of classes today, we traveled to the school and had a welcome session and meet some of our foreign classmates from places like Mexico, Indonesia, China etc. We ate our first lunch in the Mensa (our school cafeteria) and then went on a tour of the city of Bremen. It rained most of the tour and, of course, I completely forgot to bring my raincoat and umbrella to Germany. The tour guide handed all of us panchos, so I'm sure we looked like serious tourists walking around. We discovered some very neat places that we hadn't known about before and we plan on returning to explore the stores and streets she showed us more. After the tour we paid one Euro to climb all the way to the top of the Dom (seen in my facebook pictures). It was quite a hike straight up (256 steps actually), but the view was well worth the trip. We spent a little more time in town and then since we were exhausted, went back to the hotel. I also bought my first non-edible German item today! Shoes! I will post a picture of them soon, but they are teal so I can't wait to wear them in Wilmington.
If you don't have a facebook and want to see my pictures just send me an e-mail (carocougar21@aol.com) and I will send you a link to view them on Snapfish.
Tomorrow we start our first day of classes! Altogether, excluding exams we only have 9 days of actual class.. How we will learn everything in that short amount of time, I'm not sure. Thank goodness the teachers are on vacation too and will be a little understanding about the situation.
Everyone agrees that it feels like we have been here for a while, but that we're sure it will be over before we know it. We are trying to embrace as much as we can, but are all pretty tired!
I've already learned several German words, so hopefully when I return I will have even more down pat. I miss everyone and home so much! Can't wait to see you all! :)
Hey Taylor! I LOVE reading your blogs and hearing all about your daily adventures in Germany! I can't imagine how crazy I would be if we weren't able to communicate. It's just so fun! I am SO GLAD that you finally got a new pair of shoes. Can't wait to log in to FB and see them. I guess you can't post photos on Blogs? Anyway, everyone here is doing fine. Bayli is really starting to enjoy swimming in the lake. Several times this weekend, once when Dad & I were lying on the float (way too hot to sit on the porch Sunday) and once when I was on the pier talking to Vanessa on the waverunner, she just went down the steps by herself and stood there. When Dad & I were on the float, she would swim around us for a lot longer than she used too and then go to where she could stand up, rest and swim back again. Our little "girl" is growing up! It's still really hot here, but hopefully should cool off a bit by Tuesday. Hope the weather there clears up tomorrow. I love you so much, sweetie. Thanks for taking the time to post your adventures! Talk to you tomorrow! Mom
