First Full Day!

Last night everyone in the group, the advisor, one of our teachers and his wife went to eat at a restaurant called "Casa." Afterwards we went down by the river to a place called the "Biergarten." It was so cool! Since it doesn't get dark until about 10:15 there are beautiful sunset views. It is a wide stone sidewalk lined with restaurants on one side and booths or beer vendors on the other and the water is on the other side of the vendors. There are tons of tables and the atmosphere is just amazing.
Today we went back to what I would compare to "in the city" or "downtown." It is nearby the river, but it is a pretty big place. There are all kinds of shops from shoes, to cafes, phone stores, and knick knacks. Everything is gorgeous down there. Tomorrow we will probably go back and look for school supplies and  shoes seeing as how mine are about to fall apart! When we were ready to leave though, we got on the right bus, but soon realized the buses don't travel in circles and we were going the wrong way.. It was quite a long bus ride, but we got to see more of Bremen including where a lot of people live.
Now I am about to take a power nap before we go to our welcoming dinner where some German students will join us to eat and show us around some.
There are a lot of things that are different here that I never would have thought about. Such as there is no AC  in a lot of places since it doesn't get as hot. In the hotel we just leave windows open and cracked. Also, they don't really leave tips unless you let them keep the change (which is fairly common) I miss home a lot and wish my family and friends could be here with me! But I am having a good time! Guten tag!

  1. PLEASE BUY A NEW PAIR OF SHOES! How many mothers beg their children to spend $$$? Those Rainbows should be put on exhibit as "worn longest & hardest"! Your Blogs are so cool. I am really enjoying the details about the city & your activities. It is really better than me being there because I don't think I would have enough energy to go and do as much as you will, but I still get to see the pictures and hear all about it! It is very hot here so I can't imagine not having A/C. That was something we didn't really know before you left. Can't wait to hear about the "Welcome" dinner and evening festivities but it will probably be "our tomorrow" before you post all of that! I love you so much. Be safe, have fun, enjoy everything to the fullest. So proud of you. Miss you. Mom
